Many men and women suffer from joint pain: From professional athletes to “weekend warriors.” From active duty military to vets. From the young to the old.
Many of them have trouble walking, getting up and down stairs, lifting boxes, even sleeping because of joint pain. Natural solutions can be good, but they don’t work for everyone.
So we began digging deeper, searching for new ways to give them relief. Then, by a stroke of good fortune, we came across what some persistent doctors and scientists from Stanford Medical School discovered. It blew us away — and it’s changed the way we see dealing with pain forever.
Instead of “wear and tear” triggering joint pain, it turns out pain can be caused when your body’s own defense system — called the “complement system” — gets out of control.
Your joints are under attack… from the inside!
Normally, your complement system activates proteins to clear your body of pain-causing bacterial or viral infections. Like a street sweeper cleaning the streets after a ticker-tape parade.
But Stanford doctors discovered that when your complement system gets out of control, your joint tissues secrete inflammatory chemicals. These chemicals build up in the synovial fluid that surrounds your joints.
1. You suffer up to 9 times more pain. Research shows people with inflamed synovial fluid suffer as much as 9 times more pain than those with healthy synovial fluid. (Sofat, N., 2011)
2. You trigger a “domino effect” of even more joint pain and destruction. The complement system is made up of a series of 31 molecules, named C1, C2, C3, C4… and so on. Once your complement system gets out of control, the dominos begin to fall… one after another. For you that means a “cascade” of pain.
